How to enable Universal Repeater in AIP-W525H

How to enable Universal Repeater in AIP-W525H



1.   Use Ethernet cable to connect AIP-W525H’s LAN port and your PC then   power it up via supplied power adapter.

2.   Open your Internet Explorer and type http://192.168.2.1 to enter web configuration page for AIP-W525H

3.  Click on Operation Mode and select Bridge Mode. Press Apply Change button and reboot your AIP-W525H to take changes effective.


4.  Go to Wireless -> Basic Setting and make sure Channel Width & Channel Numberare matched with your source AP. Don’t forgets to check Enable Universal Repeater Mode and enter SSID of your source AP at end of this configuration page.
5.   Go to Wireless -> Security Setting use drop down menu to select your source AP and enter the password if authentication is presented.

6.      Go to TCP/IP Setting -> LAN Interface to disable DHCP service

7.      Status page on AIP-W525H shows connecting to source AP after rebooting

Like I pointed out earlier, the Alfa supports six wireless modes. For those of you who don’t know why this is important, allow me to explain a couple of the modes. Let’s start with monitor mode, not to be confused with promiscuous mode. Monitor mode is a mode that allows you to monitor a wireless network’s traffic without associating with the network’s access point. This mode is commonly used to perform packet analysis and network traffic evaluations but is better known for its ability to facilitate packet sniffing.

Next up is master mode. Master mode is a mode that allows you to impersonate an access point and provide network services (i.e. internet access) to clients. In simpler terms, master mode transforms your network adapter into a wireless router. When a potential client searches for available access points, he or she will be confronted with the option to connect to your access point. This is where things get interesting. If a client elects to connect to your access point, he or she immediately becomes susceptible to all kinds of attacks including the infamous man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack. Believe or not, luring a victim is as easy as naming your access point “Starbucks WiFi.” Something to think about the next time you connect to your favorite coffee shop’s WiFi hotspot.

Wireless security, easy steps to secure your alfa network!

Most people secures their network, but not always it is the right security.
When you set up your wireless network, always remember to use strong password.
Also never forget to change your admin panel password, since this can be found on the internet. Just by knowing the brand you use.
It is very easy to change from low security to high security password. Use numbers, capital letters and normal letters, a good mix is always best. And please have more than 8 characters!
